ZELTIQ Announces Recent Leadership Appointments
Business Wire -- ZELTIQ, a global medical technology company that developed the patented, non-invasive, and clinically proven CoolSculpting® Procedure to selectively eliminate diet- and exercise-resistant fat bulges, today announced recent leadership appointments to its management team.
“We began 2011 focused on strategies to continue the growth of our patented CoolSculpting technology,” stated Gordie Nye, President and Chief Executive Officer of ZELTIQ. “A key ingredient was the filling-out of our leadership team, which is now complete with five recent appointments that I am very pleased to announce.”
Three of the five appointments will report directly to Mr. Nye on the Executive Management team.
Ian West, Ph.D., FIET, joins ZELTIQ as Vice President of Product Development. Dr. West brings over 20 years of R&D management experience to the company, with a demonstrated record of building teams and processes to ensure exceptional product quality and performance. Prior to joining ZELTIQ, Dr. West was in senior management positions with Philips Healthcare - OEM Monitoring, GE Healthcare - Monitoring Solutions, and Critikon LLC (previously Critikon, Johnson & Johnson Medical, Inc.). Dr. West earned his Ph.D. in Engineering at the University of Liverpool UK, where he also earned his B.Eng. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Engineering Technology (UK).

Kristine Tatsutani, Ph.D., joins ZELTIQ as Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Enhanced Clinical Outcomes (ECO). Dr. Tatsutani is a highly accomplished research scientist and clinical affairs leader, and holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering, specializing in cryobiology. Prior to joining ZELTIQ, Dr. Tatsutani was Vice President, Clinical and Scientific Development at MyoScience. She held scientific and clinical leadership positions at Boston Scientific and CryoVascular Systems. Dr. Tatsutani earned her B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley.
“Kristine will be a key catalyst in driving the identification and documentation of superior product performance of our existing and new products,” noted Mr. Nye. “Plus, her background is the ideal competency we will need as we build new and differentiated platforms utilizing Cryolipolysis.
