AlwaysOn Announces GoingGreen East 50 Winners
GreatPoint Energy Tops List of 50 Most Innovative Emerging Greentech and Cleantech Companies
AlwaysOn, the leading producer of world-class tradeshows and events, today announced the winners of the first annual GoingGreen East 50 Awards. This award honors the top cleantech and greentech companies in the Eastern U.S. and Canada with an eye toward helping them secure the venture capital they need to grow and create new jobs and opportunities for people around the country. Cambridge, Mass.-based GreatPoint Energy was named as the competition’s overall winner.
GoingGreen East 50 winners will be honored at the AlwaysOn GoingGreen East Conference to be held March 9-11, 2009 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston. This two-and-a-half day executive conference will bring together innovators and VCs by offering presentations and high-level debates from CEOs, journalists, industry experts, investors, venture capitalists and greentech executives.
AlwaysOn editors compiled the GoingGreen East 50 list with assistance from KPMG’s emerging business practice, KPMG VC Practice. Together, they surveyed more than 300 venture investors, investment bankers, and technology insiders, who nominated more than 500 companies to determine the final GoingGreen East 50 line-up. Winners were selected based on demonstration of growth, market opportunity, quality of innovation and customer traction.
“The GoingGreen East 50 companies have demonstrated their tenacity even in the toughest economic conditions that the technology world has ever encountered,” said Tony Perkins, founder and editor of AlwaysOn. “We applaud their success in pushing the boundaries of innovation, creating market opportunities and transforming the industry even in the earlier stages of their businesses.”
