Tom joined ATV in 2004 and focuses on healthcare investments, with a specific focus on technology enabled services, payer solutions, medical devices, and diagnosticse. He represents ATV on the boards of Aperio, Valeritas, Gynesonics, and PolyRemedy. Tom is also an observer on the boards of ConcepTx and Zeltiq Aesthetics, and previously sat on the board of Helixis, prior to its acquisition by Illumina (NASDAQ: ILMN) in July 2010.
Prior to joining ATV, Tom had 12 years of operating experience in the healthcare industry, most recently serving as Vice President of corporate strategy and business development at McKesson Corporation, one of the premier leaders in the healthcare IT and services industry. In this role Tom managed a number of acquisitions and strategic initiatives, including launching McKesson’s Medicare Prescription Drug Card, the origination of an direct sourcing channel from India, the evolution of the company’s RFID and e-prescribing strategies, and the development of the companies generics program.
Prior to McKesson, Tom was a Product Manager at Genentech and was responsible for the successful Nutropin™, Nutropin AQ™ and Pulmozyme™ franchises. In addition, he managed sales and oversaw healthcare strategy for FitLinxx, a venture-backed startup that pioneered the fitness and rehab monitoring market.
His management background also includes five years consulting at The Wilkerson Group where he focused on medical devices and diagnostics.
Tom holds an M.B.A. from the Wharton School and a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and was an All American rugby player. He also admits he was once the New Hampshire State high school math champion.
